Exemplar of Design Brief - Demin Bag Design

Task - The task required constructing a denim bag providing sketches and annotations.  The bag needed to feature sustainability using techniques already taught and featuring artistic effects and embellishments.

Final Assessment - My final assessment featured the theme of metamorphosis: seed to flower.

Design Thinking:

·       Investigating and defining

*Investigated  - reinforcing bag handles using machine stitching.

-how to make material flowers

-how to make a felt lady beetle

-how to hand stitch flower stems.

  Producing and implementing

·       Generating and designing

Generated stencil for lady beetle and found followed pattern for boomerang bag. Designed and sketched theme into portfolio using pencils and colours.

*Produced bag from pattern using sewing machine. Impleted embellishing using various different techniques learned during Residential School.

·       Evaluating

Upon reflection and evaluation of the bag, I found this project very therapeutic creating a beautiful flower garden for my friend who had recently passed away.  I am proud of my completed products of boxer shorts (with heart label) and metamorphosis flower garden bag.  I found it challenging to understand how to lay and sew the denim and lining together so it was facing the correct way on completion. I have gained many skills from these days spent at Residential
